Going Public

Now that the holidays are over,  and in the spirit of a new year, new beginnings, fresh starts and resolutions, I thought it was time I go public with some of my own stuff.

You ready for this?
Kind of like having a child for the first time - you are never as ready or prepared as you think.
But here it goes.

I have spent most of the last two years going through a divorce.
Yep, the D word.

Regardless of whose fault it is, who did or said whatever, really does not matter (at least not you).
It is hands down, the most embarrassing, shame filled, all consuming struggle I have ever had to go through.
I don't wish it on anyone.

For much of it, all the public saw was chipper-as-ever, smiling, laughing, me.
But as the complexities dragged on and on, I just couldn't keep the facade going.

I am sure it has been hard to watch.
I know it has been hard to be my friend.
I am eternally grateful to the few who weathered this storm with me, holding my hand, lifting me up.

To quote a holiday card from one of those cherished friends,

"A new year approaches, full of promise.
I wish you joy, peace and the courage to make your dreams come true."

And that my friends, is all I have to say about that.
I am more than ready to welcome 2012 and all the promise it holds.

Happy New Year.
Let's do this.
